Julie is a new healthcare company that offers FDA-approved emergency contraception with the goal of increasing access and helping users make safer, more informed choices. In October, Julie arrived on shelves in 4,500 Walmart doors nationwide, and most recently landed at CVS and Target stores. With a one-for-one donation program, we hope to become the largest donor of emergency contraception in the U.S. Julie is driven by the belief that all individuals deserve easy access to emergency contraception without stigma, fear, or anxiety. We aspire to reduce the roughly 48% of pregnancies in the U.S. that are either mistimed or unwanted.

Reporting to the Head of Brand + Creative, Julie’s Art Director will be responsible for creating design identities and the vision for visual assets across all channels, campaigns, and launches, in line with (but always pushing the boundaries of) the Julie brand identity.

Location: Remote, occasional travel required.

We will count on you for:

  • Creative Direction: Provide visionary and outside-the-box thinking for creative concepting and direction within photography, video, graphic design and other visual assets, ensuring they adhere to brand guidelines, communicate our story effectively, and evolve the look and feel of the creative.
  • Campaign Development: Support Head of Brand + Creative with concepting and executing creative campaigns that drive brand awareness, buzz, and engagement. Manage execution of design identities and delivery of all assets for campaigns and product launches.
  • Management: Manage Senior Designer in executing daily asset needs for digital campaigns, launches, social, web, ads, decks, OOH, product, packaging etc.
  • Photoshoot Direction: Work closely with our Head of Production to execute all shoots. Provide clear direction during pre-pro, on set and in post, ensuring that all final imagery aligns with the brand vision and resonates with our audience.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including growth marketing, production, content, operations, and more, to align creative efforts with business objectives and maintain a cohesive brand experience.
  • Brand Guidelines: Ensure that all visual assets adhere to established brand guidelines, and help evolve and update these guidelines to meet the evolving needs of the brand.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment ensuring deliverables are achieved on time while maintaining a high standard.

Who we are looking for:

  • A BFA in graphic design or commensurate additional experience.
  • 4-6 years of experience as an Art Director / graphic designer.
  • Experience in both print and digital design, and happy to work in both worlds.
  • Proactive and always thinking about ways to push the brand.
  • Has a strong and informed POV and understanding of aesthetics.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.). Experience working in Figma, Sketch and 3D rendering softwares are a huge plus!
  • Experience in packaging design.
  • Immense attention to detail.
  • Not afraid to break traditional design rules.
  • A consistent and open communicator adept at giving, receiving, and incorporating feedback.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work within deadlines.

Salary + Benefits:

  • Compensation includes a $130-150k base depending on level of experience, and includes bonus eligibility and company stock options.
