Packaging Designer

Job Description

The ideal candidate is a creative team player will be able to think strategically across different media platforms and own the creation process from inception to production. You must be able to work both independently and collaboratively. This role is based out of our NY office working in the office 3 days a week and 2 days remotely. The hybrid schedule is NOT NEGOTIABLE.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with VP of Design and cross functional teams to conceptualize, develop and implement design strategies across print and digital communications
  • Provide feedback to the team to assist in project development and design evolution
  • Efficient time management skills to consistently deliver high quality work, in an extremely fast paced deadline driven environment
  • Create and execute packaging & display mechanicals ready for press (rfp)
  • Partner with Packaging Manager to ensure the integrity of the design is maintained during the packaging development process
  • Photograph product, and retouch imagery as needed for packaging and/or displays
  • Work with other departments on packaging needs and deadlines
  • Research and staying up to date with current design trends.
  • Bring in new sources of creative inspiration and enhance creative and technical skills of self and team
  • Coordinate packaging proofing process including obtaining all necessary approvals from internal teams and relaying comments to graphics team overseas

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2-3 years of experience in packaging design soft accessories categories
  • Bachelors in related field
  • Strong sense of design, typography and color
  • Highly motivated, passionate about beauty, fashion, and has a commercial eye for detail in product
  • Self-starter, passionate and results oriented
  • Experience with licensed brands and interpreting brand style guides for product extensions
  • Expert level Adobe Creative Suite skills required
  • Expert level Microsoft Office skills required
  • Strong creativity, conceptualization, execution, organization and design skills
  • Experience creating “rfp” (ready for print) mechanicals
  • Experience and/or knowledge of photography & photo re-touching
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to problem solve
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to strategize and prioritize team workloads to ensure competing deliverables are met according to the seasonal calendar
  • Flexible and creative problem solver, ability to easily pivot
