Introduction

Overview

In the competitive creative industry, it's not enough to simply post your latest designs on social media platforms like Instagram and prayto be noticed. 🚨 You need a strategy that amplifies your presence across multiple channels. In this module, we'll guide you through effective ways to showcase your work and ensure it's seen by the right audience.

We'll dive into other channels to showcase your work, getting interviewed on podcast, or launching your own newsletter. ⚡️ Let’s elevate your presence and make sure your creative contributions are not just seen, but remembered. Let's turn up the volume on your creative career!

Lesson 01

Showcasing Your Work to the World

To get your work noticed, strategically place it where it can be seen:

👉 Communities & Platforms: 🍒 Let's start with the low hanging fruits. It's 100% free and a no-brainer. Go to platforms like Behance, Dribbble open up a an account. These sites are not just for displaying your portfolio; they're communities where you can receive feedback and connect with other creatives. 🚨 Often overlooked, Webflow, Readymag, Semplice all have their own free showcase and community page. Speaking of communities, obviously We the Makers Slack channel is a must, or even pages SuperHi has a strong community-

👉 Design Blogs & Online Publications: 💻 We have dedicated an entire presentation to this section below. Here is the thing! Design blogs have a reputation and can multiply your reach. So make sure to submit your projects to influential design blogs like Mindsparkle or CreativeBoom. 🌟 There is a high competition as usually only the best get selected but its your ticket to build reputation and following. To make your life easier our presentation includes an overview of all popular blogs and their audience as well as tips and examples how to write a good pitch.

👉 Design Awards and Competitions: 🏆 You can also participate in competitions like RedDot for Branding or Product Design or Awwwards for web-design. Adding a certificate, an award or badge to your portfolio will underline your expertise and your personal brand power.

Lesson 02

Engaging with Media & Sharing Your Wisdom

Your experiences and insights are valuable—here's how to share them:

👉 Getting Interviews on Popular Blogs: 🗯️ Target blogs that feature Interviews with professionals in your field. Reach out to them with a compelling pitch about what makes your perspective unique and how it can add value to their content. Your pitch and the idea how this interview could be different and interesting can make all the difference. For example Mindsparkle Mag, The Brandidentity or Redsofa are good options

👉 Podcast Interviews: 🎙️ The same goes for podcasts. To give you one example check our Creative Boom. Do your research and don't be afraid to reach out and ask for an interview.

👉 YouTube Channels and Interviews: 👁️ You can also collaborate with YouTube channels that focus on design, such as The Futur, which often features interviews and discussions with creatives.

Lesson 03

Creating Engaging Content Beyond Your Portfolio

Expand your content strategy to include personal insights and professional advice:

👉 Blogging and Newsletters: 📣  Start a blog or a newsletter to share insights into your creative process, industry trends, or tutorials. Abou El Anouar is a good example - he started a newsletter for senior designers. Or Jessica Hische uses her blog to share detailed posts about her lettering work and life as a creative.

👉 Medium Articles: ✏️ Medium is another low hanging fruit. Use it to publish articles that delve deeper into your experiences or opinions on design topics. A great example is Tobias van Schneider, who used to write on Medium extensively...

👉 YouTube Tutorials: And if you're comfortable on camera, start a YouTube channel to share tutorials or behind-the-scenes looks at your projects. Designers like Charli Marie effectively use YouTube to connect with a broader audience by sharing design tips and career advice. There is a lot of power in Youtube and video content!
