Introduction

Overview

Alright, now before starting your job search you need to understand your professional desires and align them with the market realities. Remember your Career Vision 👀 board? By now you should have completed it and have a deep understanding of your skills, interests, and values.

🚨 These will be important! You should know what you want from your career but also what you can offer to potential employers. And if you have done your homework, your SMART goals should guide you during this process.

So what now? Yes you can start searching for your dream job right away. But here are two other ways how to approach your search by reversing it. 🔍 Let's find our more...

Lesson 01

Researching Trends & Industries 🔥

Let's talk about Trends first as an alternative start for your job search 🔍!  You can use Google Trends 🔥 or what we like to do is browse Product Hunt or Angel List to see where venture capital is flowing. In order to really understand the industries that match your career interests, start by pinpointing the sectors that resonate with your skills and passions.

👉 Check out resources like the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), IBISWorld, and Statista to get a solid overview through industry reports 🗒️ . These resources are great for grasping current industry health, trends, and future projections.

Also, make sure to attend industry conferences, webinars, and seminars whenever you can. They're invaluable for gaining firsthand insights from industry leaders and for networking ⛓️. Plus, you often get the scoop on the latest industry shifts that haven't been widely published yet.

Lesson 02

Researching Companies

Okay, there are two ways, search for your desired job or you turn it around 🔄 and search for companies that align with your career goals and find opportunties this way.  Let's start by identifying the core companies that match your interests and you already know. ✍️ Add them to your list. You'll find other innovative companies by keywords on platforms like LinkedIn, Glassdoor, and Indeed . These are perfect not only for scouting but also for checking out employee reviews. 📈

Don’t forget to dig into each company's About pages and check news articles to see if their culture fits your career aspirations. See if there are open vacations and don't shy away from reaching out proactively if there aren't any. 👀

💪 Here's an extra tip we wish we had know... Always assess the financial health and growth prospects of a start up company (ie. by reviewing financial reports & investor presentations available on Yahoo Finance , Google Finance). This step is crucial to understanding their stability and potential for future growth.
