About Atlas
Atlas is a new kind of game—built to defend and advance human intelligence in an era dominated by AI. Our mission is to help people sharpen critical skills like adaptability, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking through play. The world doesn’t need more time-wasting games—it needs experiences that make people smarter, stronger, and more connected.
At the heart of Atlas is a competitive, team-based experience where players face abstract challenges in limited time windows. These challenges live inside The Arena, a daily set of levels within the broader game. Designed to be engaging but non-addictive, Atlas strengthens the most human skills in ways that feel cinematic, social, challenging, and meaningful.
The Role: Head of Creative / Full-stack Creative
We’re looking for a cinematic visual storyteller—someone who combines motion, visuals, sound, and narrative to create emotional resonance across brand, content, and product. You’ve built stories that move people—visually, sonically, and structurally—and you know how to do it across platforms.
You’ll own the creative execution of Atlas across all key surfaces: brand, marketing, content, in-game visuals, sound, and storytelling layers. You’ll function as our in-house creative studio—translating the vision into stories, assets, and experiences that bring it fully to life. You won’t be defining the vision alone, but you’ll be the person who makes it real—visually, emotionally, and experientially.
You're a creative generalist with range. You design systems and assets. You write and art direct. You edit and produce. And most importantly: you're AI-native. You're immersed in the tools that make full-stack creativity possible—and you're always learning how to push them further.
Who You Are
- 🎞️ A Cinematic Visual Storyteller
- You’ve created emotionally resonant stories across video, motion, sound, and visual design. You understand how to use movement, pacing, tone, and narrative structure to craft moments that feel something.
- 🧠 A Full-Stack Creative Generalist
- You’re not limited to one lane. You move fluidly across content, design, brand, UI, video, and worldbuilding. You think in systems, not just single assets.
- 🤖 AI-Native and Tool-Obsessed
- You live inside creative AI tools—Runway, Midjourney, ElevenLabs, After Effects, etc.—and constantly explore their edges. You see AI not as a gimmick, but as infrastructure.
- ⚡ A Builder Who Gets Things Done
- You have a “creator mentality.” You ship work quickly, learn from it, and improve it. You’re self-sufficient and execution-driven.
- 🎯 A Collaborative Creative Lead
- You know how to direct and inspire others. You manage freelancers or specialists with clarity and precision—only when needed to realize the vision.
- 🎮 Bonus: Game Engine Experience
- Experience using Unreal Engine or Unity to create visual effects or cinematic trailers is a big plus. You’ve used these tools in a VFX or gaming context, and have proven to be able to help shape gaming VFX.
What You’ll Do
- Own creative across all touchpoints: brand, marketing, product, game-world content
- Design and produce cinematic visual stories: trailers, teasers, motion graphics, and video assets using After Effects, AI tools, and editing software
- Define and evolve Atlas’s visual identity and story world across brand systems, campaigns, and in-game presentation
- Craft original campaigns that reflect Gen Z sensibilities and stand out visually and narratively
- Build and maintain our AI-creative stack, selecting tools and systems to make workflows faster, better, and scalable
- Collaborate with the game and product team to ensure emotional and aesthetic cohesion inside the game’s levels and surfaces
- Manage external creatives (as needed)—from brand researchers to game designers—to scale output while maintaining direction
Why Join Atlas?
Atlas is built for those who believe the future belongs to those who think critically, act collaboratively, and adapt fast. We’re not building a content brand—we’re building a world. A cinematic, socially-driven, skill-based gaming experience that’s designed to make humans better.
If you're excited to design that world—and tell its story—this is your role.
Compensation & structure
This is a foundational leadership role at Atlas—and we’re structuring compensation to reflect that.
- The full-time salary range is $90,000–$150,000/year, depending on experience, scope, and fit.
- You’ll also receive meaningful equity, as this role will directly shape the brand, world, and storytelling of Atlas.
- We’ll start with a flexible contract structure—which can be part-time at first—so we both have space to make sure it’s the right long-term match.
- Preference for candidates based in California (Bay Area or Los Angeles) or Raleigh, NC, though we’re open to remote for the right person.
We’re looking for someone who wants to own this role—not just fill it. If that’s you, let’s build something unforgettable.
